What is Vitamin D?
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. Adequate Vitamin D levels in the body help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, falls and fractures in the elderly. Most of our Vitamin D comes from exposure to direct sunlight. A very small amount comes from certain foods such as eggs, liver and oily fish such as sardines and salmon.

We need Vitamin D to maintain good health and to keep bones and muscles strong and healthy. Vitamin D is required to maintain normal calcium metabolism and healthy bone density. Vitamin D deficiency is common. Those at higher risk are the elderly, dark skinned, those bedridden & in nursing homes. Vitamin D supplements help prevent and treat osteoporosis in adults.
